Albany Primary School
"Where learning makes a difference..."

Dear Parents

We will be holding the Albany Primary School Colour Run as a major fundraising event this year on Friday 14th March during the afternoon block during school hours!  We’re doing it to raise much needed money for interactive playground equipment and sensory gardens.

About the Day

The Colour Run is all about Fun! It will be a huge colourful mess and one of the most exciting days on our school’s calendar, with everyone’s participation the aim, so please make sure they attend on the day.  The colour is made up of 98.3% corn starch and 1.7% food grade dye.   An exciting course will be created on the field on the day with classes rostered between 1.30pm – 2.50pm.

We do not want students to permanently damage their school uniform.  We are aware that the dye can be removed from clothing, however may take several washes and therefore this will be a non-uniform day.  We request that students wear light coloured shirts so the colour can be seen, and shorts or something comfortable to complete the obstacle course in, on the understanding that these clothes will get colour powder on them.  We would recommend that you bring a plastic bag and towel in your car for easy clean up when transporting your child home.

However all bus students will require a change of clothes for them to change into in order to catch the bus home.  As well as their change of clothes, these students will also need a plastic bag and towel in their school bag.

How Does My Child Fundraise?

Firstly, go to schoolfunrun.co.nz (or scan the QR code on the brochure attached) and create a student profile page under ‘Albany School’ using your child’s Area number. Everything to do with your fundraising revolves around this page.

Students who raise just $10 will be able to choose a prize! The more they raise, the better their reward – don’t forget to check these out in the sponsorship form! We have educated students on the dangers of door knocking without adult supervision, and we encourage you to reiterate this at home. The great thing about online fundraising is that you can share the link to your child’s profile with friends and family via email, SMS and social media for friends and family in New Zealand and overseas.

Online Fundraising

The easiest way to help your child raise money is through online fundraising, where students raise an average of $120. On top of raising more money, it’s also safer and easier than doorknocking and you don’t have to worry about handling money! To start fundraising online, go to your student profile page at schoolfunrun.co.nz and share your online fundraising link.

Getting Involved

Not only can you support the school and students with your sponsorship – but you can join in on the fun! We would love to welcome parents and family members to attend the Colour Run. If you would like to volunteer on the day to assist on the Fun Run course, please contact Jan Munroe (jmunroe@albany.school.nz).

FOS will be supporting with a prepaid sausage sizzle and iceblocks at lunchtime on the day.  Notices will go home closer to the time requesting prepayment of these items prior to the event.

Ordering Prizes – ALL PRIZES MUST BE ORDERED ONLINE AFTER THE EVENT

Prizes MUST be ordered between the 14th March and 21st March. Simply visit schoolfunrun.co.nz to create / log into your Profile Page between these dates.   Then click on the ‘CLAIM YOUR PRIZE’ button and follow the prompts. If you have any questions, please contact the School Fun-Run team on 0800 377 170 and they will gladly assist!

If you do not want to participate in the fundraising – your child is still able to attend the Colour Run. If you want to participate in the fundraising but do not want your child to participate in the Colour Run please email your child’s classroom teacher.

Thank you, good luck and happy fundraising!
